Picture Me This Vol. 2: Film Roll

This playlist was inspired by photos taken by myself and Jeff. All the photos were either already on our cameras or taken while assembling this playlist.

This is our second collaboration in the “Picture Me This” series. Here are the rules of the game:

We send each other photos of our choosing, and whatever the first word or phrase that comes to mind after looking at the picture, we choose a song based on that thought.

For this version of “Picture Me This,” we started by me sending Jeff a random photo from my “roll,” and he picked a song based on that photo. Then, he sent me a photo back, and I picked a song based on that photo. And so it went, until we had fourteen tracks—seven apiece.

Song List:

Creating music with Jeff is a motivating and inspiring endeavor. What makes these playlists so fun to create is blending our two styles together—styles that are very different, yet also very much the same.

Jeff lives in San Diego, California, where I am originally from, but I now reside in Taiwan. Since we live so far apart, making these playlists is a fun way to stay connected.

Since Taiwan is 14 hours ahead of San Diego, living in two very different time zones makes creating these playlists not challenging at all, but rather something to look forward to.

Usually, when we pick our songs, it’s either right before one of us goes to bed or right after one of us wakes up. It gives us something to look forward to in the morning when we wake up and the first thing we see is the next song on the playlist. Once the playlist is completed—usually one per week—we call each other and spend time discussing our picks.

From morning till night, it’s the music that’s a constant inspiration.

We are currently thinking of other directions this game could take. If anyone has an idea, please leave a comment below. Thank you!
