Hall & Oates: Power Duos

Did you know that the band Hall & Oates never actually went by that name, Hall & Oates? On every album the power duo did together they were known as, Daryl Hall and John Oates. This playlist was inspired by John Oates’ memoir “Change Of Seasons.”

For the rest of this blog post, I will refer to the power duo as Hall & Oates because that's what most people know them by.

After reading John Oates memoir I wanted to make a playlist, but I was short of inspiration on which direction to take it.

I knew I was going to use the song “I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)” off their Private Eyes album, but I didn't know where to go with it. First, I was going to make a playlist based on the “Philly” sound since Hall & Oates were both from a small town outside of Philadelphia.

This playlist fizzled out after a few weeks because I was not able to come up with enough songs to complete it and I wasn’t satisfied with the direction it was going.

Next, I wanted to do some kind of a playlist using Hall & Oates’ 70s folk sound with other folk sounds of the 1970s, but that playlist gained more inspiration after I read Dave Grohl’s memoir, “The Storyteller.” I ended up turning that into a Dave Grohl playlist.

So here I was, still sitting on this Hall & Oates song and it finally struck me like a bolt of lightning. Hall & Oates is a duo, so why not make a playlist with the greatest duos in pop music? Duh…

The idea is so simple yet it took the inspiration of listening to the Pet Shop Boys for it to finally come to fruition. So here we go I finally got it the way I want it.

Hall & Oates Power Duos. Here is a collection of my favorite pop songs from the greatest power duos in pop music.
