California Vibrations
This playlist is inspired by Brian Wilson’s (of the Beach Boys) autobiography, I am Brian Wilson.
What do you think of when you think of California?
I live in Taiwan, but I am originally from Encinitas California, which is a suburb of San Diego. When I was in high school I worked at a retail store that sold party supplies. One of my managers at the time, and I ended up becoming great friends.
My manager used to make the schedule. He always used to make the schedule with me working on his shift every night. We would close the store together and we just have a party. We would listen to music and play whiffle ball in the back room. We even brought baseball gloves and played catch in the parking lot at night.
For many many years him and I lost contact with each other. After many different times of searching on Facebook I finally found him. This is a person that comes along once in a lifetime.
After we rekindled through Facebook, and the numerous times that I returned to San Diego to visit, we always made it a point to see each other.
That's how you know when you have a good friend - you make time for each other. I feel as life progresses people lose the passion to make time for each other. But if you have a friendship with both sides of the relationship that make time - that’s when you know you have a true friend.
Every year or two and I return to San Diego, my friend, we always go to a local sandwich shop and order two sandwiches, grab a couple beers go to the beach and just chill.
That's what this playlist is all about. This is California in my view. Chilling on the beach. Growing up in California this is where I want to be. I want to be on the beach with friends, listening to great music.
