Quincy: The Dude
This is a collection of songs from the 1970’s and 1980’s inspired by Q: The Autobiography of Quincy Jones. This era was the apex mountain of his career.
There is a world of music that many people are not exposed to. That is the world of Quincy Jones. Q started his career in jazz during the late 1940’s as a trumpet player and quickly morphed into one of the greatest music composers, arrangers and producers in music history.
Q worked with the greatest musicians in the business during his career including, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Lesley Gore, Count Basie, Dinah Washington, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles, Ringo Star, Paul McCartney and Chaka Khan. Then, you finish up with Michael Jackson. Incredible.
I grew up knowing Q because of Michael Jackson, but that was about the extent of my knowledge. A few years ago my friend DJ Timmy Tim, introduced me to a whole new world of Quincy. He help to add records produced by Q to my (our) collection and he would explain in detail, how, when and why to every song. Thank you to DJ Timmy Tim and the music Gods for opening my ears to another world of Q that I was already used to.
