Billy Bangers Vol. 2
I love rhythm. I love soul. I love any kind of music that makes my foot thump. When it comes to Michael Jackson, I am very rarely surprised by anything. But when I heard this song, I was completely surprised.
The idea of this playlist came from the summer of 2021. That was the summer where we were (living in Taiwan) in a slight Covid lockdown and I spent my summer pretty much living on the beach.
I stayed in a small concrete cylinder tube looking hostile that cost me about $15US a night for a week during this time with a friend of mine, Brian, who a few years earlier, introduced me to a streaming radio service, called RadioMeuh. The first time I heard RadioMeuh, changed my life. It's almost like a religion to me now.
So back to that concrete tube hostel I was sleeping in that was literally a stones throw away from the edge of the water. One night my friend, Brian and I were playing a board game called Stratego, when we heard this Michael Jackson remix of Rock With You on RadioMeuh.
We both paused our game and looked at each other and wondered what were we listening to. The sound of this Michael Jackson's Rock With You remix that I have never heard before was truly amazing. I spent weeks trying to find this remix online using different streaming services with no luck.
Finally, I was able to find this remix on SoundCloud. After finding this remix and discovering the music on SoundCloud, I created this playlist that you are about to listen to. It all started with the remix of Michael Jackson's Rock With You by the great Jean Claude Gavri. What an amazing adventure that summer was!
